Farmers’ perception of agricultural cooperatives: the case of ?anl?urfa, Turkey

ABSTRACT: ?anl?urfa is the province with third-largest agricultural area in Turkey. However, it has only 0.62% of total number cooperatives country. This study aimed to determine perceptionsof farmers regarding and factors affecting them. The main research material was obtained through face-to-face surveys involving selected by a simple random sampling method. volume determined 95% confidence limit 5% error margin. Multiple regression analysis used Stata software. According results research, 39.7% participants were cooperative members more than half them not active members. Of participants, 30.3% had positive perception cooperatives, 36.82% undecided, 32.88% negative opinions. Age, marital status, non-agricultural income, experience, social security, farmer registration system, membership, land variables positively affected farmers’ perceptions. education, union membership effects on No statistically significant relationship reported between farmer’s any following variables: people that make up household, individuals engaged agriculture work family, status lease.
